The 4 Cs are the shared language for describing a diamond: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. They matter in different ways and to different degrees, and some differences are visible to the eye while others only appear on a report. Read them in this order: start with what each grade really changes, then carat weight versus visible size, then cut and light performance, and finally how to read a grading report. By the end you should be able to compare two stones on paper and know which differences you would actually notice.
